Where did the Bink in Bink's Buttons 'N Bobbins come from?

This week's blog hop is about nicknames. My mother would babysit the neighbor boy that was about the same age as I was, 2 years old. He could not say my name, Vicki, it would come out Binki and 30 years later I am still called Bink or Binki by my family. A sweet sound still to me today.

What is your nickname?

SNOW IN GEORGIA

Snow...Snow...Snow

I was born and grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho. Snow is a bittersweet childhood memory. The sheer joy of playing in the snow, the many snow angels and snow men were a creative delight. I also remember trudging to school everyday in a huge snow suit and clunky snow boots. The snow melting off of the suit and boots making a messy puddle on the school bus and then tracking it into the classroom. My clothes and hair wet for the melted snow and the miserably blissfulness of it all.

Now, years later living in Georgia, I heard it didn't snow in Georgia when I moved here 22 years ago. Well it doesn't, not every year. But I'll tell you, when it does life stands still. To compare living in Idaho vs. Georgia is one huge difference, driving. Idahoians have the equipment and the knowledge therefore life goes on daily in the snow. Georgians do not have either. I get this feeling in my gut when the weather people call out the snow warnings that is not pleasant. The beauty of it is that once it is finally here, I find myself feeling that little girl inside and actually enjoying the snow again.

Here are my pictures of the snow that visited LaGrange, Georgia February 2010.

My house kissed by the snow - the trees in all its beauty - the tallest snowman I can remember ever witnessing, he was at least 10 feet tall!

2 New Purse Organizers Listed and More to Come!

Get ready for Mother's Day...just around the corner. A perfect affordable gift for that beautiful Mother in your life. Help her get organized.

What is a Purse Organizer?

Fill it up with your purse items, roll it up and drop it into your purse. Spread it out on the bottom of your purse and place your large items in the middle. Ready to change purses? It takes just a second, take out your large items out of the middle, roll up the purse organizer and pull it out - drop it into your new one. That's it!

About the design:

This purse organizer is designed to hold its shape yet still move to form to the bottom of various size purses. It is made with durable heavy upholstery fabric to keep that desired shape. It will stand on its own but becomes more stable with items in the pockets. The pockets are short for fast convenience of placing and pulling out your items quickly while you're on the run. Instead of a pocket that you keep losing those small items in, they should reach the top of the pocket for easy access. There are 6 pockets to hold all of your items.

Playing in the "Sweat Shop"

I had some extra time tonight and decided to play with this fabric that has been calling my name for quite some time. After making Christmas gifts and filling tons of orders, here is something for me!
I have not taken the time to really perfect the zipper and it used to intimidate me....well I can still use some practice but I have to admit it was pretty easy.
Here is my new purse. No pattern, just me, my fabric and my sewing machine.
